Summer Vacation

About a month ago, some of our friends had mentioned that they were taking their boys to Galveston for their summer vacation.  As we were talking about it, they asked if we might want to go with them.  I, being the beach lover that I am of course wanted to go!  They told us the dates that they were going and I realized that it was right when we get home from my cousins wedding in Dallas.  We threw the idea around but didn't give it any serious thought.  My boys are not very good travelers.  They aren't used to traveling and just a short trip to Fort Worth is hard for them to handle.  Because of that, I just didn't think it would work out.  So as a couple of weeks go by, we started discussing it again.  I kept going back and forth on the decision.  I just didn't think they could handle a 9 hour drive, especially after just getting home from a trip to Dallas.  However, the more we talked about it, the more and more excited I got about how much fun we would have.  We finally decided that if we didn't go, we wouldn't get to have a vacation because Jason's busy time is right around the corner.   So, we decided we would go.  I had 2 days to unpack from Dallas, wash all of the laundry, and put it right back in the suitcase.  Jason had 2 days to reschedule appointments and squeeze them all in before we left.  A little hectic, yes, but totally worth it!  The Monday after the got home from Dallas, I told Jax where we were going.  Most kids would be so excited about going to the beach, Jax cried.  He did NOT want to get back in the car.  That just about made me cancel all plans!  But after a couple of days at home, he was excited about it and ready to go.  Wednesday we loaded up and drove to San Antonio and spent the night with Jason's cousins.  We thought if we split the drive a little then it would be easier, plus we got to spend some time with family that we rarely get to see.  Then, Thursday morning, we drove on in to Galveston.  The drive went flawlessly.  Jason and I were so shocked and proud of how well the boys did.  Literally not one complaint out of them!  Thank the Lord for video games and DVD players!!  We met up with Lee & Ally in Houston and followed them to Galveston.  The excitement on the boys faces when we got our first glance at the ocean was priceless!  I then knew that we had made a good choice by going.  Another thing that went perfect was vacationing with another family.  You never know how it's going to be to have two families staying together for 4 days and if the kids will start getting tired of each other.  The 4 boys played so well together, and had more fun.  Us adults just chilled, relaxed, & enjoyed each others company.  We hope to continue to do this every summer.  The memories that we made will be remembered for a lifetime.

Lee & Ally:
We are so thankful for you guys and the friendship that we have formed.  We cannot thank you guys enough for inviting us to join y'all on your family vacation.  Friends like you are very far and few between.  I hope our boys will continue to be friends for the rest of their lives. We all had the best time!  Again, thank you.
